Yes it is possible to earn money from home

Yes it is possible to earn money from home

Are you a mom looking for a way to make money from home? There are actually many ways to work from home, and if you are just starting your search, get ready to dive in! There are opportunities to work locally off-line and globally online!

A very popular way to make money from home is by selling items on eBay. You can sell items you have around the house that you are no longer using, clothes your children have grown out of, or, if you are crafty, you can sell things you have made. But you don?t have to stop there. Many people may not be as computer literate as you or maybe they just don?t have time to list their own auctions. You can offer up your services as an ?auction specialist?. For a small fee plus a percentage of each sale, you can take pictures of items other people want to sell on eBay, post the auctions and take care of shipping the item to the buyer.

If you come from an administrative background, you can find work online as a virtual assistant. The job duties can be varied, including answering emails, making phone calls, maintaining websites, and more. If you are very adept at designing websites, there is certainly a huge market for that as well as graphic design. A copywriter (also known as ghostwriter) can make money by writing articles, sales letters, advertising copy and more for Internet Marketers. Freelance writing for newspapers and magazines is also an option for those who enjoy writing.

If you are someone who prefers to work off-line, there are still lots of possibilities. For starters, you can start a home-based daycare. If you love to organize and clean, you can set up a home business as professional organizer and get paid to clean out other people?s closets, attics, garages, etc. Another option for those who love to organize, would be to organize events. These can be events for people, such as parties and weddings; or you can organize events for businesses such as meetings, luncheons, and even business expos.

Many people have turned to direct-sales, also known as ?party-plan?, to work from home. It is no longer a choice between kitchenware or make-up companies ? today you can choose to sell candles, clothes, craft supplies, toys, books, jewelry and more. Some of the companies allow you to sell these items online as well as in the traditional ?party? setting.

The possibilities for working at home are endless. Keep researching different options, ask lots of questions, and you will find a way to make money from home!

Creative Childcare Solutions For WAHMs

Creative Childcare Solutions For WAHMs

If you are a work at home mom, you probably became one so you could spend more time with your children. However, there will most likely be times in your business when you will need to arrange for childcare. The following are some creative solutions to your childcare dilemmas.

WAHMs in direct sales are very often faced with childcare predicaments. A main portion of their business is conducting sales presentations, usually held at someone else?s home. If you are a party plan WAHM, the most obvious choice would be to schedule these presentations when your partner can watch the children, but what if your partner has an odd work schedule or you are a single parent? You can hire a local high school student to come to the party and be the ?party nanny?. Check with the hostess first, but she will probably love the idea (and so will the other guests ? since they won?t have to worry about getting a sitter for their children, they will be more likely to come to the party and the more guests you have, the bigger your profits!).

If you just need an occasional sitter, try setting up a ?child care group? with your friends and neighbors. Each woman can designate a time frame on a certain day of the week or month to be ?the sitter?. Any of the Moms in your ?child care group? who need a sitter that day can drop their kids of at the ?designated sitter?s? house. The children will get to play and interact with one another and each Mom can get free childcare on an ?as needed basis?.

Check with your place of worship as they may offer a ?Mom?s Day Out? type of program where you can drop your children off for a few hours per day, a couple times per week. This may be a free or low-cost service. Also, check with local library as they may have ?story hours? where you can drop your children off and the librarians will read the children a book and after the book is read, the children can participate in a craft, game or activity.

If you just need some ?quiet time? to do some work, you can hire a neighborhood teenager to come over and play with the kids while you are tucked away in your office. You will have some uninterrupted ?work time?, but will still be there in case ?something comes up?. If you have regular meetings that take you away from the house, check with friends and family to see if they can help out by watching the kids. Offer your product or service in exchange for their time. They may jump on the offer!

And don?t feel guilty if you need to put your children in daycare part-time. Yes, you may have had every intention of working at home in order to spend time with your children, but, there may be times when your business will need your total focus. By taking that time and completing your business tasks, you will be able to focus 100% on your children during family time.

Organization tips for WAHMs

Organization tips for WAHMs

Do you have piles of papers on your desk? Is there a stack of receipts shoved in your drawer? Do you ever find yourself looking for a phone number that you just know you wrote down somewhere? If you are suffering from a lack of organization, here are some suggestions on how to tackle it.

It is no secret that having a disorganized work area is counter productive. By getting organized ? and staying organized, you will be able to get more work done in less time.

If you are computer-friendly, you may be familiar with the program Outlook. You can use Outlook to keep track of your emails, your daily schedule, your to-do list, client phone numbers and email addresses and more. You can even synchronize your MP3 player to Outlook and keep all of your info with you wherever you go!

For those that are not as technology advanced, you can still get organized by using old-fashioned paper products. If you do not have a planner, get one! There are many kinds of planners to choose from, in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Find one that fits your needs and use it to keep track of doctor appointments, school meetings, your work schedule, etc. Set up a client database to keep track of phone numbers, emails and other information. You can do this by getting some 4? x 6? index cards and a recipe box.

April 15 is a day that many Americans dread ? it is the due date for your taxes! An easy way to keep track of recipes is to get a hanging file folder and 12 manila envelopes. Have one envelope for January, one for February and so on. During the month, throw all your receipts in the corresponding envelope. When the month is over, tally up your receipts and write it on the outside of the envelope. That way, when tax time comes, most of your work will already be done.

By taking some time each day to ?take care of the little things? you will stay organized, feel less stressed, and get more work done!

Offer Your Readers a Choice

Offer Your Readers a Choice

Internet marketers have been living by the motto ?content is king? for some time now. There is good reason for that, as content is what draws search engines to your site and send you traffic. Plus, by providing quality content, your visitors will be more likely to come back to your site when they want to learn about the subject you specialize in.

The first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word ?content? is probably print content. There is a new kid on the internet marketing block, and his name is ?audio?. By providing both print and audio content, you?ll have the potential to reach new customers and take your website to a new level.

Providing content in both print and audio form will add variety and stimulation to your website. When people are surfing the web, they may get lost in a maze of website that seem to blend together. By adding audio to your website, in the form of a welcome greeting or background music, you are helping your website to stand out. Adding audio to your blog posts, can stimulate your readers? senses in a whole new way. This can also increase the amount of time people spend on your website and turn them into repeat visitors.

There is no pleasing everyone, and you can?t be everything to everyone. However, adding a mix of audio and print content can help bridge the gap between the differences in people?s preferences and learning styles.

Some people enjoy reading and use their ?reading time? to relax and unwind. They may sit at their desk in front of their computer or perhaps they print out the pages they want to read and curl up on the couch with them. They may even grab their laptop and head to a local caf? where they enjoy a cup of coffee while they surf the web.

On the other hand, some people would rather listen to audio while they multi-task and do chores around the house, read email, or simply download the audio to their Mp3 player and listen in the car.

Having both forms of content can come in very helpful if you provide content that teaches people things. Different people have different learning styles; some people absorb information through reading and some need to hear the information for it to make sense. By offering your readers a choice, your website will be able to reach out to more people.

By adding variety, stimulating your readers? senses and reaching out to people with various learning styles, you may find yourself reaching a whole new customer base.

Walking the WAHM tightrope ? balancing work and family

Walking the WAHM tightrope ? balancing work and family

Sometimes, being a work at home mom can feel like walking on a tight-rope! Balancing your work-time and you family-time can almost feel overwhelming, but it can be done. As a WAHM you are ahead of the game. The following are some tips to help keep you balanced ? and sane!

You have the ability to set your own hours, so take advantage of that right now. If you can handle some tasks at ?odd hours?, you will have more family time during the day. Are you a morning person? If so, try to get up an hour before your family to take advantage of some ?quiet time? to focus on your business; night owls can take care of emails and other administrative tasks after they have put their children to bed.

If you pick your children up from school, use the time you spend waiting for them to get out of class to return customer phone calls. A wireless headset for your cell phone will allow you to keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road if you make calls while driving.

During the week, when schedules are busiest, plan speedy dinners. Let your kids help out in the kitchen while you cook ? you?ll be spending time together and teaching them skills they will need. There are plenty of cookbooks out there dedicated to ?kid friendly recipes? if you need some inspiration on what to make.

Blend family time and work time by getting your children involved in your business. Smaller children can affix the stamps or mailing labels; older children can help hang flyers; and teenagers can take on some administrative tasks such as data entry.

Set aside some time each day to spend with your children with no distractions. You don?t have to go anywhere special; the time can be spent reading a book or playing a game. The point is just to let your children know that they come first, and the business comes second. Remember ? you became a work at home mom so you could spend time with your family. Don?t forget to take some time out to enjoy them!

Remember to take care of yourself

Remember to take care of yourself

By nature, women are nurturers and care-takers. If someone within a 50 mile radius has a problem, a woman will try to help them! WAHMs are no exception. They spend their days caught up in a whirlwind of taking care of their families, housework and working their businesses. However, a WAHM can easily forget to take care of herself!

Yes, you work from home, and you may be able to conduct your business wearing sweat pants and bunny slippers, but that doesn?t mean you should. Remember that every time you go out in public you are surrounded by potential business clients. You should look professional and well-groomed ? you never know who you are going to run into!

Even if you stay locked-up in the house all day, it is important that you feel pretty.
When you look in the mirror and see a well-groomed, professional woman looking back at you, you will feel more confident and more competent in all areas of your life, including your business!

When you wake up in the morning, don?t just throw on your old sweats. You don?t have to wear a business suit either, but try to aim for something in the middle of the two choices. A simple shirt under a cardigan sweater and some nice jeans or slacks will do the trick.

If you simply do not have the time to wash and blow-dry your hair, put your hair in some Velcro rollers while you get breakfast ready. They will add body and style to your hair. Take five minutes to at lut on some mascara and lip gloss; and don?t forget to add a spritz of perfume.

If the last time you bought yourself a new outfit has been so long the clothes you are wearing are coming back in style for the second time around, that is a clue you need to update your wardrobe!

When you accomplish a goal, celebrate by getting a manicure or pedicure. Keep your hairstyle fresh by getting a trim every few months. You may be a WAHM but you are still a woman! You deserve to feel special!

Creating your own income opportunities

Creating your own income opportunities

Have you been looking for a way to earn money from home? Why not take the skills you currently have and build a business around them? You will be able to create your own work schedule and can choose to work with local businesses or with people you meet online.

People that are proficient in web design can easily find work. Many people want to start an online business but don?t know the first thing about building a website ? just visit any work at home message board and you will see many posts asking for help!

Are you creative? If so, you can find work as a graphic designer. Many people need help designing logos and advertising for their businesses. If you enjoy writing, you can find work as a copywriter ? the person who writes the information you read on websites.

If you would rather work offline, there are still plenty of opportunities for you. Just market your services creatively ? let businesses know how you can help them. For instance, if you were a teacher, now you can be an ?Educational Consultant? and coordinate lesson plans for local daycares! If you were the manager at a restaurant, you can turn that into a ?Catering Consultant? and help caterers and restaurants come up with new recipes or help brides plan their wedding menus.

Moms are expert organizers ? offer up your skills as a ?professional organizer? and get paid to clean out closets, attics and garages. Are you an expert at throwing birthday parties? Many busy parents would hire you to take care of planning their children?s parties.

Are you good at sewing, knitting or scrapbooking or some other craft? Hold classes to teach others. If you do not have room at your home, ask your local hobby shop if you can hold classes there.

As you can see, there are many ways to turn your skills into ways to work from home. Once you decide on something to do, get out there and let everyone know you are available for hire! If you do not ask for work, you won?t find any!

How to Keep Your Listeners Coming Back for More

How to Keep Your Listeners Coming Back for More

While podcasts can be a great way to add interest to your website and attract new traffic, it can take some time to build up a steady audience. In this article we will go over some ways to keep your listeners coming back for each new edition of your podcast.

The first step is always to have high quality content. If your podcast provides helpful information in an entertaining format, your listeners will want to come back again and again. Interviewing experts, answering listeners questions, and having a co-host help you present the information will help you keep the show lively and fresh. If you run out of ideas, ask your listeners to send in some suggestions for topics they want you to cover.

Providing a ?teaser? is a great way to keep your listeners coming back for more. Most television shows will feature a clip from the next week?s episode after the ending credits roll on each new episode. This gives the audience a little tease about what is yet to come. Once their curiosity is piqued, they will come back to find out more.

Your own local radio stations probably hold several contests through the year, and you can apply those same things to your podcast. Try partnering with other website owners who are willing to donate prizes or help you promote the contest. Each week, at some point in the podcast, you could give out a ?clue?, such as a word or phrase. The contest could go on for 4 episodes or so, and at the end of the contest, you could ask your listeners to send in an email with all 4 clues. The first three that submit correct entries could be the prize winners.

Getting your listeners involved with your podcast is a great way to get them to come back for each new show. If they feel that they are a part of the podcast, they will be more loyal as listeners. Give them a number to call where they can leave feedback or record a promo message for your show.

This is something your local radio station may do as well. If you have ever heard them play the recordings of normal people saying ?you?re listening to WWXX on 103.1? or something along those lines, you know what I am talking about. This creates energy and excitement. The people you feature will feel famous if they hear their self on your show.

If you feel your podcast isn?t growing as fast as you would have liked, keep working on marketing it and developing quality content. Eventually, your hard work will pay off and you have a loyal audience.

Tips on avoiding the comparison trap

Tips on avoiding the comparison trap

Have you ever heard of a term called ?healthy competition?? Competition can be a driving force when used properly. For instance, when two or more WAHMs get together and see who can sell the most product in a month or who can make the most customer follow-up calls in an hour can be fun. Having that competition going can give you something to work for and you may end up accomplishing more than you would have otherwise.

However, things can turn unhealthy when you start comparing yourself to your WAHM friends. If you have you ever found yourself thinking ?Gee, Sally is so successful. I wish I was more like Sally. My life would be perfect if I could be like Sally.? You are comparing yourself to others. It may seem like human instinct ? but do not fall into the trap!

You need to be proud of who you are and what you are doing. You do not have Sally?s life ? she may have older children and eight hours a day to work on her business whereas you have a newborn and a toddler and only a few hours a day to work. It is important to set your goals realistically. Remember the old saying ?Rome wasn?t built in a day?? It applies to your business as well! And who knows if Sally is really as successful as she is? Maybe she is saying she is more successful than she actually is. Sally may actually be comparing herself to you!

It is normal to wonder if your business is doing well, or if you are making as much as you could be. Seek out advice from someone who has been where you are now. They can offer an honest opinion and can tell you what they did to achieve their success. Remember to use their advice as a guideline. You need to set your own deadline. It doesn?t matter if it takes you a bit longer to achieve your goals. Building a successful business is not a race ? it is a marathon! By working consistently on your business, you will achieve your goals.

Stepping out of the WAHM comfort zone

Stepping out of the WAHM comfort zone

As a WAHM, you probably have a circle of WAHM friends that you may have met locally or online. They share in your successes, offer advice when you get stuck and listen when you have a bad day. They understand your life as a work at home mom.

However, to grow as a person and a business professional, you may want to step outside of the WAHM comfort zone once in a while. You may be asking ?Why on Earth would I want to do that?? Well, there are lots of reasons.

Even if you have been able to conduct all of your business online so far, why should you ignore the business in your own ?backyard?? Check your local paper for the times and locations for meetings of business networking groups or call your local Chamber of Commerce and find out when they hold their meetings. Let?s say you go to the next meeting and there are 30 people there; statistics show that the average person knows 250 people?. Well, if each of those 30 people in your networking group knows 250 people, who knows how many of them may need your product or service?

By showing up regularly for meetings and events, you will get to know the other members. The conversation will eventually lead to the subject of what each of you does for a living. When they, or someone they know, are in need of your services, you will be the first person they think of to ask for help. Likewise, when you are in need of something, you will have an established list of contacts that will be more than willing to help you out!

Plus, these networking groups often have guest speakers and business seminars. Who knows? You may end up picking up some tax tips or learn some community news you wouldn?t have heard about if you were surfing an online WAHM forum.

In addition, these events give you a reason to get dressed up and get out of the house, and sometimes that is the only reason you need to go to them!
